I went to Manila to do some snooping around and a bit of R &R. It is also raining hard in here. The internet is down most of the time. Many of the universities have posponed their school openings due to the H1N1 virus scare.Several of the students that visited foreign soil apparently contracted this virus and was never detected until lately. Some of the churches in the area have discouraged people from holding hands during service to minimize the potential outbreak. There has been no known death in the Philippines due to this virus.
I went and bought a dvd/karaoke player for P1000 ($25), it came with 40,000 songs and a microphone. There is a great deal of christian music in the list (praise & worship/hymns).I bet my place will be a popular hangout because most people here loves to sing.
It is nice to hear about my brother John's work at his church. He is an elder and takes up some of the preaching assignments. He goes to the church every morning for prayer meetings. I appreciated some of the success stories that he shared with me and the vision that he has for this congregation. He is wanting to go into full time ministry as a pastor but needing some funding for the schooling. He has not asked me for help but I am reaching out to you folks for his behalf should you wish to partake in providing for him.
I went to have lunch at a food court and a young "man" approached me. He sat in front of me and asked if I would be "interested in him".I told him that I am a minister of the gospel. He looked at me with a gaped mouth and asked " am I going to hell?" I jokingly replied "yes" with the intent of engaging him to a conversation over a meal but he fled like he was shot out of a cannon.Maybe I should've been more tactful. My brother told me that this certain locale is popular among female/male prostitutes specially at night.
I can't wait to go back home to Boracay.
