Father's Day is pretty big here in Cebu. The streets and the restaurants are busy. Children are singing their adorations to their dads. The malls are giving free shoeshines, haircuts and knick-knacks to fathers who have pictures of their kids in their possession. I went to church and their emphasis today is how to be a better dad to your kids and how to be a "surrogate dad" to others.
The dads were asked to stand up front and face the congregation, they then got a rousing applause from their families and was prayed for afterwards. This really hit me hard as I was missing my wife and my kids. All the dads in the church got a special pink shirt with a sign that said" #1 I am blessed.... I'm a Dad. We got to wear it and hugged each other. Hey, real men wear pink.
