Do justly, Love mercy

One of the great injustice in Boracay is the maltreatment of employees by many business organizations. It is rather common for many companies to ask their employees to work 12 hours with no proper breaktime. Portion of salaries are sometimes held back if employees make inquiries about their work situations.People are being used and abused then fired when you get sick. The government seems to keep a closed eye so long as these establishments add money to the tax coffers. As one businessman indicated to me, "They need us more than we need them."
This attitude is permeated specially among the Korean business community.I'm not sure why. I have korean friends who are very upright people, they don't know why either. Many employees just somehow suck it up and hope for the best.

One such employee was Joy. She is a wonderful receptionist that always greets me with a smile. She works for a spa service just outside where I reside. She has been there for 5 years. One of the business partner came for a visit and summarily asked her to leave because his girlfriend does not like her. It's mostly politics, I think. She shared her disappointment with me.

I invited her to join us for dinner as a way to encourage her somewhat.I pray that the LORD will take care of her and of this injustice in this island.
