Oasis was conceived not simply as a business but as a self sustaining ministry for the children and youth in the community. The village of Yapak is the poorest area in Boracay. The overall level of education amongst the inhabitants are quite low. Drop out rates in school is high and everyone is accepting that this is how life is. Only a small portion of high school grads will get to go to post secondary education due to lack of funding. The chances of getting a good job in the island is slim at best without college education and or experience Many just get married at a very young age only to repeat the cycle of hopelessness.
Portion of the income of Oasis will be set to address this specific need. It will be utilized to strengthen education by providing school materials, meals for the hungry, access to health and dental care and love in the name of our Heavenly Father.
The resort will also be used as a training ground for young people who may wish to learn the different aspects of the hotel business and gain favorable experience to be competitive in the job market.

The idea of self-sustaining ministry is neither new nor innovative. The first missionaries were expected to make their own living in addition to planting the gospel. Mission stations founded in the 19th and early 20th centuries, such as those in China, Zimbabwe, the Congo, Brazil, Bolivia, and many other places, became their own villages of bustling activity. Not only did the missionaries build community churches, they built schools, hospitals, and suitable infrastructures such as wells, pumps, generators, and farms. Commerce developed around the mission stations. The missions that survived were ones that eventually figured out how to grow out of the cultures in which they were planted, rather than those that imported all their technology and tried to plant a little United States along with the gospel. The latter was too hard to sustain, as it required a constant flow of funds for building and maintenance.

I believe that Oasis is going to make a huge impact in Yapak both in the economic and spiritual aspect of the people here. There are several ways that you can be a part of this ministry.
1. You can continue to pray for us.
2. Come over and spend your vacation here or be our word of mouth advertisers. The more
money we can generate the more we can do for others.
3.Invest with us. We are still looking for financial investors that are interested in making this
venture a successful one. We welcome both large and small investors who are interested in
being good stewards of their God given riches. We do also accept monetary donations.

If there is one thing I hope my stories have conveyed, it is that mission in the world of social responsibility is all about doing something practical so that others can see the difference that our faith makes to their lives.
