I was visited by a total stranger in my home today. It was a mother who was having a problem with her son who has started using drugs. She asked me if I can talk to him before he kills himself or lands in jail. Use and or selling of drugs in the Philippines is punishable by law for up to 25 years in prison. He is only 16. Apparently someone from the area has heard that I have worked with drug addicts before and the mom took the chance to ask me for help.
I spent time with them and had the opportunity to share the gospel.The boy indicated that he is having other problems and thought that drugs would somehow ease the pain.He was very contrite and sought his mom's forgiveness.This was a wonderful moment that I will cherish.
They are from a town 4 hours away and was just visiting somebody here in Boracay. I persuaded them to get help from someone in their town.
