Landed in Cagban terminal and must now catch a tricycle again to take me "home".The fare was P50 ($1.25) but the tricycle can only take me part way as they are not allowed to enter that specific area. I was left standing there with my 48kg suitcases, my laptop and my guitar and a good 15 minute walk to my final destination. Still,I kept telling myself "I'm home".
Someone asked me if he can work as a porter for me.Boy, was I ever glad to see him. We both lugged my belongings to Villa Camilla,my new home. I paid him well for his effort and checked in to my room.
I was a bit flustered when I saw my room. I guess the owner's definition of nice and comfy is much different than what I envisioned. The room is dark and looking real old, only one electrical socket is working, the toilet is not connected to any water pipe so you have to flush it with a bucket, the ants are all over and the so called bed is a two inch foam. We have a term for something like this in Canada, it's called slumlord motel. The only positive part is that I have an internet connection, even then,I had to pay for the use of it. This is one of those buyer beware over the internet. The cost of the room was P16,000 ($400)/month plus electric, water, garbage fee and internet.I am not familiar enough of the area to walk away and find a new one so I thought I'd give it a try.
