I had to go to Manila to seek assistance in getting funding for the project. I have decided to take the Nautical Highway and rode the ferry. This is like the smaller version of the BC ferries. Buses and other vehicles are rolled in then off to the great sunset. The ferry was packed and all seat were taken. The upper deck of the ship is filled with roosters. It looks like the crowds are going to a cock-fighting event. The ride is 5 hours long and the only food available on board is the instant noodles.I found a seat by the cafeteria, ate 2 cups of noodles, played with some kids then dozed off for a bit.We got to the Island of Mindoro, rode the bus then traveled for four hours to another ferry terminal. The ferry was delayed for an hour so I got an opportunity to fill my tummy with hamburger and potato chips.
I quickly went in line for the ferry so that I can get a "good" seat. Lo and behold I got a hold of a nice comfy couch. Finally, some good news for my tired and decrepit body.
I was getting ready to sleep when some "crazy" staff decided to turn on the TV which is right beside the couch.Half of the ship wanted to watch a show and apparently I placed myself on the "entertainment" area of the ship. Is this Murphy's law or what?
Finally made it to the port of Batangas two hours after.Rode the bus en route to my family home in Cubao. Just as I was getting comfy, the roosters inside the bus decided to crow. Just like clockwork, at 4:30am how do they know what time it is ?Who the heck placed the roosters in the bus?I would've loved to have a stove and a wok at that very time.
Finally made it to Cubao at 6am and it is pouring rain. Two ferry rides, two buses, 15 roosters,2 cups of instant noodles, 1 semi cold hamburger and 15 hours after, I finally finished my Amazing Race. Welcome to Quezon City. Slept most of Tuesday.
