I went to visit the Development Bank of the Philippines in Kalibo and applied for a loan. They told me that it would be hard to impossible to give me a loan on the basis of my non financial record in the country but they will try to put the papers in and see what happens.I will take about 60 days just to see if they will even agree to finance me. They have financed a lot of project in Boracay and know the value of real estate in the area. I was told that I am in great shape because my land is titled and they are expecting that this specific land to increase in value. The current value of the land is $540K. They are expecting it to increase to about $2M due to a high development area. Still, it is not enough for banks to finance the deal due to it's very conservative nature.
I left the bank a bit dejected but still believing that the good LORD has plans for my future.
I took the bus back to Boracay , sat down and prayed. I smelled a korean bbq sauce somewhere in the bus so I decided to investigate, went to the back and saw these 3 korean ladies having a heyday with their very late lunch. I told them that it is illegal for foreigners to eat in the bus without sharing it to a local. They smiled and gave me some.I figured if I can't get a bank loan at least I can get a free meal somewhere :).
My new korean friends are studying at a bible school in Dumaguete and this is their first time to visit Boracay. I offered my services to be their guide during their stay in the island. They stayed at the place where I'm staying and took them to a seafood restaurant for dinner. They enjoyed their evening so much that they paid for my dinner. GOD knew that I needed company and HE sent me this group to encourage me and feed me. They gave their names and hoped that the Oasis Resort be ready by the time they come back and promised that they will help me in letting the bible school be a part of the clientele when I'm ready. This is an encouragement that I needed to hear at this time.GOD is GOOD.
