It's been raining for several days now due to a passing storm. The Philippines is generally battered at least 30 storms a year, some last for a day and some for a week, this is life in the tropics. Things slow down including the construction project. I have been visiting the site to minister to the workers. I have been bringing them special treats and special meals to remind them that their work in this project has eternal dividends. The are very thankful for my visits and encouragements. They have asked me as to why I care for them so much and I just simply tell them of GOD's love for them. The people in the community is also aware of the project and that they often come and visit to watch the development and even bring food to the workers from time to time. There is a tree in the middle of the land and this is where I would often stand and spend time with the LORD. Thankfully, I was told that the tree will be spared and it will be a part of the landscape.
I still think of the day when Anita and I decided to follow the LORD's leading for us to come to Boracay. The whole scenario was rather discouraged by some acquaintances saying that it cannot be done.I looked around for financial backing in canada and none was to be found that is willing to step in.
I am reminded of a story in Luke 5 when Jesus told Simon Peter to go into the deep water and let down the net for a catch.Simon answered, "master,we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But, because you say so,I will let down the nets." When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
I started this project with whatever little money we had and really no idea of how this is going to materialize, just believing that GOD said so.It defies conventional wisdom but it defines an act of faith.
The men are digging their way in making the foundation for the building and I am in the middle of the land under this big tree shaking my head still in disbelief because the "nets are beginning to break." Just plain amazing.GOD IS GOOD.
